Preventative treatment helps keep you healthy now and in the future. Serene Dental Spa offers:
At your first visit, a comprehensive dental exam will be performed by Dr. Javed or Dr. Tran. At regular check-up exams, your dentist and hygienist will examine diagnostic x-rays, check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease, examine all tooth surfaces for decay, and check existing restorations, such as fillings and crowns.
This treatment is usually performed by Registered Dental Hygienists. Dental cleanings include the removal of calculus and plaque and polishing of the teeth. Cleanings remove stains and plaque that cannot otherwise be removed during tooth brushing.
A deep cleaning called Scaling and Root Planing is usually done one quadrant of the mouth at a time while the area is numb. During this procedure, scaling removes tartar, plaque, and toxins from above and below the gum line and planing will smooth out rough spots on root surfaces. This procedure allows gum tissue to heal and helps pockets shrink.
X-rays are essential for detecting decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss. X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions. This digital technique uses an electronic sensor that captures and stores the digital image on a computer. This image can be viewed instantaneously, as well as enlarged, which helps the dentist and dental hygienist detect problems more easily. When compared to the already low exposure of traditional X-rays, digital X-rays reduce radiation even more by 80-90%.
These X-rays are wraparound photographs of the face and teeth. They offer a view that would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. X-rays in general, expose hidden structures, such as wisdom teeth, reveal preliminary signs of cavities, and also show fractures and bone loss.
This screening checks the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
Topical fluoride strengthens the teeth by seeping into the outer surface of the tooth enamel, making the teeth more resistant to decay.
